I believe that this Sunday school song is very powerful. And not just for children - for teenagers and adults as well. What you see has a major impact on what you do, say, and what you think. If I saw a bull charging me, naturally I would think about it, and get out of the way. In the same way, if I watched a movie that was illustrating love and kindness, I would think about it, and want to do something similar. However, if I watched a movie that was totally opposite to that, I would think about it, and I might come to the conclusion that it is alright to steal or murder. This, as the song says, is not at all pleasing to our Father in Heaven who is watching us constantly and wants the best for us.

In the media world today, there are a lot of illustrations similar to my latter illustration. They distort our way of thinking, turn the key to the precious box holding our sacred values, and let them fly out the window.

Even more importantly, I believe we mustn’t hide these values. If we do, it’s like sealing them in an airtight container and killing them. We should keep hold of them, but definitely not hide them. Think about this, and always remember it is so important to practice what you preach. Pray for wisdom to stand up for this generation and make a difference!
